On June 2, 2012 you are going to see Chris “The Hammer” Holland face off against “New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni on Ring Of Fire 43: BAD BLOOD. Brawlin Combat News had released an interview with Phil Baroni, and not to be outdone Chris Holland had an immediate response for the NYBA.
Brawlin: First of all, I know you found the interview with Phil Baroni interesting, what do you have to say to his statement that he is in a higher league than you?
Holland: Correction Phil, you WERE in a higher league than I was. Not now, NOT June 2nd. I will welcome you to the Ring of Fire and Denver Colorado.
Brawlin: What are some of the things you’ve done to prepare for the Baroni fight?
Holland: I have worked on becoming more of a complete fighter every day. The more I train with the team and trainers at Factory X the better I become. For Baroni specifically, I have worked on my footwork, we respect his power for sure.
Brawlin: How many seconds of your day is dedicated towards the thought of beating Baroni?
Holland: Unlike Phil, I respect my opponents. I spend most of my day thinking of how I will train hard every night, how I will sleep well every night, how I will recover each day…all this in preparation to be victorious June 2nd. So, I pretty much think of him ALL DAY!
Brawlin: Does it motivate you even more when an opponent says he will run through you like goose s**t? Or do you shrug it off?
Holland: What is he a scientist now? Phil “The Goose Hunter” Baroni? Bring it Phil (said with a shrug).
Brawlin: What are a few reasons Baroni should reconsider his statement of being able to run through you?
Holland: The fact is that he can, he has the ability, and I get that. HOWEVER, he hasn’t had a KO or a TKO for that matter since 2008. I had 2 in the past 6 months. I’m not your guy either Phil!
Brawlin: About a year ago you and I had our first interview, and at that time you were happy being amongst the top local fighters, what’s changed since then that now has you wanting into bigger promotions?
Holland: I changed gyms and decided to give 100% into this for a year; I made that deal with Marc Montoya. 100% means bigger, and better. I want to fight on TV so my daughter can watch. I picture it looking something like Rocky 4. Her and her friends gathered around the TV going crazy!!
Brawlin: Back when I interviewed you and Robert Martinez you had asked Martinez which way he wanted to fall, are you going to be as polite with Baroni?
Holland: I like Robert a lot, and I can’t say the same for Baroni! So hey Phil, Which way to you want to fall? On your face or on your back? Never mind, I’ll decide for you!
Brawlin: Once this fight is in the books what is the next thing your fans can expect from Chris Holland?
Holland: Not sure right now, I want this one first VERY badly. I will think about that later but they all know I do it big!!
Brawlin: I know a huge part of your success is because of your sponsors, did you want to give them a shout out?
Holland: I would like to thank Feldmann Nagel, Attorneys at Law, Indo Industries, Performance MMA, Modern Real Estate, The Devereaux Team, Dan Dane Consulting and Joe Clark Tattoos!!
